New 2022 Hyundai Nexo Redesign, Pricing – Nexo has the advantage of cargo space over its nearest fuel cell rivals, both sedans: the Honda Clarity and Toyota Mirai.
The driving range is adequate at up to 380 miles per refueling, but the only state that offers hydrogen refueling infrastructure in California so that it can cripple some buyers’ travel plans.
For those who can make Nexo’s unique powertrain work for them, they will be able to glide along with free fuel for up to three years; Hyundai threw $13,000 worth of fuel as part of the deal.
New 2022 Hyundai Nexo Redesign, Pricing
we expect the 2022 Hyundai Nexo to offer more luxury, including a hands-free power liftgate, extra-large sunroof, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, Hyundai blind-spot display monitor, 360-degree camera, remote parking features, and improved Krell audio system. In our view, this facility justifies the additional cost to Limited.
2022 Hyundai Nexo Engine
Hyundai Nexo 95-kW fuel cell and 40 kWh battery pack power are rated at 161 horsepower with 291 lb-ft of torque.
The motor moves the front wheel through a one-speed gearbox; all-wheel drive is not available. In our tests, Nexo gave zero to 60 mph results in 8.4 seconds.
It’s faster than the Mirai but a little slower than fuel cell clarity. As with its fuel cell brother, Nexo is really not thrilling to drive.
However, the electrically assisted steering is precisely tuned — on the light side but with a stable feel. As a result, Nexo stopped at 70 mph at 169 feet, which is much better than the hydrogen-fueled Clarity or Mirai.
The cruising range varies by trim, and the Nexo Blue base has an estimated range of 380 miles. Equipped with additional equipment and 19-inch wheels (versus Blue’s 17s), the heavier Limited has an estimated range lower than 354 miles.
The EPA MPGe rating also differs slightly between the two Nexo trims. The Blue has a combined 61 MPGe (65 city/58 highway), while Nexo Limited is rated 57 MPGe (59 city/54 highway). Once you find the hydrogen station, refueling takes about five minutes.
2022 Hyundai Nexo Interior
The interior space in the five-passenger Hyundai Nexo 2022 is equivalent to another small crossover. Adults will fit comfortably in front or the back seat.
There’s a handy 30-cubic-foot cargo space behind the back seat and a 57-cubic-foot flat net, rear seat, which is close to what the Hyundai Tucson has to offer.
Otherwise, the Nexo cabin bears little resemblance to Hyundai’s other lineup with a two-word steering wheel, digital instrument panel, and push-button transmission control.
The front seat only offers basic power adjustments but is vinyl-coated. Overall, it’s a fun place and air laps, especially with a sunroof bigger than Limited.
Hyundai Nexo Features
The 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard in Nexo and includes apple Car Play and Android Auto integration. Additional connected features are available with Hyundai’s Blue Link app, which offers a starting remote engine (with seat preheating or pre-cooling) and a hydrogen fuel station finder.
There are two USB charging ports (although the only one supports data transfer) and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
