2022 Hyundai Tucson Release Date, Interior, Price – Tucson has been on sale since 2015, having last completely redesigned it for the 2016 model year. This is competent if not assumed entry in the competitive compact crossover segment. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is almost entirely new, with fresh style, new hybrid powertrain options, and a massively overhauled interior.
Hyundai Tucson 2022 Sports a bold new design that seems destined to shake up the COMPACT-SUV market. Although the concept is featured as a plug-in hybrid, the Tucson 2022 will also be offered with a more conventional four-cylinder gasoline engine, possibly the same one found under the hood of the Sonata family sedan.

Hybrid powertrains will also be offered, and Hyundai will offer plug-in models. Tucson N-Line trim will offer a sportier alternative with more power. Tucson will find itself going head-to-head with some powerful rivals such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, and Volkswagen Tiguan. We expect it to roll into dealer lots by the end of 2021 with a starting price of about $25,000.
Hyundai will build two versions of the Tucson, one with a short-wheeled axis and one with a longer one —only the latter will be sold in the U.S. (The strategy is similar to the current VW Tiguan, which is sold in America longer than its two global forms to offer more interior space.) As before, front-drive and all wheels will be available.
Until we know the details of Hyundai trim level features, it is difficult to choose one that will provide the best value. In the past, we advised SEL because it offered the best balance between features and price. Hyundai will offer a sporty N-Line model for the first time, possibly with a turbocharged four-cylinder making 290 horsepower.
You don’t see concept cars or design sightings—this is a 2022 Hyundai Tucson that you can buy next year. Wild, isn’t it? Compressed in the form of a fairly conventional high hatchback rather than a modern compact crossover SUV is a lot of styles.
Usually, that mantra creates problems because designs that pile on the design can often be too much. However, in Tucson, riots of folds, chamfers, and types of works peaked. We wouldn’t call the results beautiful, and some are thriving or perhaps too florid themselves, but Tucson attracts attention without getting ugly.

Hyundai is working with a new style language here, which we haven’t seen on other production models that save on limited production, high-tech Nexo fuel cell electric vehicles. The SUV’s face is striking and dominated by a combination of wide-wing grille-and-headlight.
Ventila recounts deep cheekbones with fog lights located inside that may not work but give Tucson a more aimless aesthetic than most small SUVs. Ditto Hyundai’s athletic attitude, in which the wheels seem to sit body-wide under fenders and bulging tails seem to kick in the air.

The four turbocharged 1.6-liters will power hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, which Hyundai says are good for a combined 230 hp; no word yet on battery capacity or driving range. The company has confirmed a hotter Tucson N-Line model, which could get a turbocharged 290-hp 2.5-liter from the upcoming Sonata N-Line. We’ll know more about Tucson 2022 engine options closer to the crossover sale date.
The EPA has not released a fuel economy forecast for Tucson 2022, but we anticipate a slight increase in the current model rating of 23 mpg cities, 28 mpg highways, and 25 mpg combined in the most efficient format.
Most observers’ eyes will quickly fly into the backlight, however, which inform and execution brings to mind the vertical bar setting of the Ford Mustang. As we reported when the Tucson preview image went down ahead of its official debut, the lights were more original than they were first seen, however.
There are only two bars per side (mustangs wear three), and they are connected by full-width reflective eyebrows. Each backlight bar is also more triangular and three-dimensional than a Ford pony car unit.
Other new style touches include faux vents stamped onto the trailing edges of each fender flare, Hyundai badges hovering on the tailgate glass, and silver trim (with its own simulated ventilation stamp on its trailing edges) running up and over the side glass all the way to the tail of the Tucson.
The final dimensions have yet to be revealed, but will appear as if the new Tucson is larger than the old; this theory is supported by Hyundai-provided cargo volume figures. At 38.7 cubic feet, the Tucson 2022 cargo area is primarily larger than the 31-cubic-foot handle of the 2021 model; both numbers are measured with an upright back seat. With it folded, the new Tucson figure certainly jumps beyond the 62 cubic-foot capacity of the current model.

The new Tucson has a simple yet modern dashboard design with a digital meter display, push-button shifter, and touch-sensitive control panel for climate control and infotainment systems. Hyundai’s flagship Palisade SUV and the recently redesigned Sonata and Elantra sedans have served as a kind of WATERSHED moment for the company’s interior design, and the new Tucson looks to continue the trend with carefully arranged interiors filled with quality materials and luxury features.
Hyundai has not released images of the rear seat or cargo area of the Tucson 2022, but based on spy photos, we can see that the size and shape are roughly the same as the current model, so we expect passenger and cargo space to be similar.
Forget Tucson’s current interior style if you haven’t already. The new model cabin transforms its landscape high-end, with a handsome double cockpit setting separated by a central pile of waterfalls and an elegant “floating” central console.
The trim element that coats the top of each front door flows into the dashboard, with integrated air vents embedded in each front corner; The trim line continues along the road in front of the driver and front-seat passengers and frames the central stack.
A set of pushbutton transmission controls helps streamline an already sleek central console by eradicating traditional shift levers; right in front of the console are a series of horizontally arranged physical buttons for seat heating and ventilation, steering wheel heaters, and parking cameras and sensors.

A new 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay integration and Android Auto phones is standard, but the optional setting is wow: It’s a 10.3-inch touchscreen that fits flush with the surrounding panels. Below it is touch-sensitive backlit control strips for volume and tuning, as well as shortcuts to navigation, radio, media, and setup menus.
Although logically composed, the controls pose two potential drawbacks: First, being touch-sensitive and shapeless, the buttons will likely require a view to operate (you can’t easily “feel” for flush-fit, touch-sensitive buttons because you can be physical buttons or knobs). Also, speaking of knobs, there’s nothing on the 10.3-inch screen—just tap the input for volume and tuning, which can prove fiddly, as is the case with certain products from other car manufacturers.
Other high-tech offerings include Hyundai’s digital lock smartphone app, which provides lock and unlock features as well as the option to start remotely. More information about Tucson’s new infotainment and connectivity features will be available closer to launch.
With at least an optional 10.3-inch display, Tucson also includes touch-sensitive climate control under the main touchscreen. It flanks conventional digital displays for air temperature and fan speed. Again, the button layout seems intuitive, but these touch-sensitive controls carry the same potential drawbacks as for audio systems.
