Hyundai Palisade Engine
The palisade is powered by a 3.8 liter V-6. Coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the engine 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft torque are adequate for this application. The Palisade transmission can be switched manually with the paddle mounted on the steering wheel.
The Gearbox shifts seamlessly on its own, but there are some busy dragging ratios when climbing hills. The front-wheel-drive is standard, while all-wheel drives are optional at all trim levels. All Palisades come standard with a strong cold transmission, pre-wired trailer, and sway control, and can tow up to 5000 pounds when equipped with dealers-mounted obstacle trailers.
We tested all-wheel-drive CELLS and delivered adequately-if not special-test results in our test tracks. In our tests, Palisade walked from zero to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and Palisade needed 182 feet to stop from 70 mph. This proved to be a little faster than KIA Telluride but slower than Chevy Traverse.
According to the EPA, Palisade’s front-wheel-drive reached 19 mpg City rating and 26 mpg Highway. When equipped with an all-wheel-drive, Palisade gained 19 cities and highways 24 mpg. In our 200-mile motorway test route, our all-wheel-drive driving CELL models were managed only 23 of the 24 mpg rating claimed.
The noise from the road is pressed; however, a large amount of wind noise penetrates the door. The controls for the climate system and drive mode are logically laid out and easy to use. There is room for up to eight passengers in trims SE and SEL, seven in Limited, and there is plenty of space in all three lines for its occupants. The second line displays a one-touch button to move the seat forward for easy access to the third row.
